Práce Jana Chlupa /1986/ se vyznačují metodickým zaujetím rozporem mezi pohybem v čase a jeho systémovou součástkou - nehybným okénkem. Jak se malířsky, tedy dvojrozměrně a staticky, vyrovnat s pohybem? Jan Chlup chápe hranice vlastního malířského plátna coby formát "obydlený" lidskou činností či dokonce jako pouhé okénko animace - technického procesu reprodukujícího pohyb. Zkoumáním konkrétních prostor i analýzou pohybu v prostoru méně vymezeném, Jan Chlup ve svých obrazech i video projekcích vytváří prostrory nové a teoreticky nekonečné, které se organicky skládají z okének animačního procesu přibývajích spolu s dějem, který je v nich uzavřen.

The work of Jan Chlup can be characterized as a methpdical focus on the contradictions between the flow of time and its system unit - a static frame. How to deal with a motion from a painter's point of view, therefore in a two-dimensional and static way? Jan Chlup understands the boundaries of his own painting canvas as a format "inhabited" by human activity or even as a mere animation frame - as a technical process reproducting motion. Both by investigating particular spaces and by the analysis of a motion in a restricted area, he creates new and theoretically endless spaces which are organically composed of an increasing number of animation frames, created with the story enclosed within them.
